In November 2010 Chad Airhart defeated a 22-year incumbent to win the office of Dallas County Recorder. Prior to being elected Recorder, Airhart served as the Waukee Area Chamber of Commerce Director. As Director, Chad was a strong advocate for pro-business legislation, and oversaw the growth of the Chamber by more than 160%. During his tenure as Director, the Des Moines Business Record named Chad one of Des Moines Forty Under 40. Chad also served as the Vice-Chairman of the Waukee Planning & Zoning Commission. There he worked with many developers and landowners encouraging the most appropriate use of land throughout Waukee.

Chad attends Point of Grace Church in Waukee and is a member of the Waukee Rotary Club. He serves as a Board Member for West Bank’s Central Iowa Community Board, the United Way of Central Iowa’s Education Cabinet, the Waukee Leadership Institute and the Waukee Area Chamber of Commerce. Months into Chad’s first term as Recorder, he was elected Chairman of the Iowa Republican County Officials Association. Chad is a veteran of Iowa politics having served on President Bush’s re-election team in Iowa as part of the Victory ’04 staff, a District Representative for U.S. Congressman Steve King and part of Mitt Romney’s Senior Staff for his 2008 Presidential campaign. Chad currently serves as part of Mitt Romney's Iowa Leadership Team.

Chad married his high school sweetheart, Jodi, and they made their home in Waukee in 2006. Chad enjoys playing golf, shooting guns at the range, smoking cigars and listening to Bruce Springsteen.
