Waukee Youth Wrestling Sees Improvement and Success in 2011-12 Season

The Waukee Youth Wrestlers have completed the 2011-12 season with a great deal of improvement and many successes.

Submitted by Chad Vollmecke, Waukee Wrestling This year's state series was a great showing for Waukee Youth Wrestling.  We had a larger number of kids competing at the state and district levels, and our finishes were an improvement over years past as well.  Cade De Vos and Kyle Biscoglia are defending state champions who repeated, so that, too, is very exciting. Beyond the AAU series, many of our more experienced kids competed all over the state and country.  For example, Jakob Allison placed 2nd out in Las Vegas at the NUWAY Southwest Kick-off Classic, 2nd at Winter Nationals, 2nd at USA State, and was Champion at Corn Cob Nationals. Waukee Youth Wrestlers Finish Second at Dual Meet

The Waukee youth wrestling team took home a second place finish at the Iowa Youth Dual Meet in Knoxville, Jan. 8.

The Waukee youth wrestling team finished in second place at the Iowa Youth Duals in Knoxville, Jan. 8. The team is comprised of youth and middle school wrestlers from the Waukee School District. The team includes (in no particular order) Dominic Rubino, Carter Smith, Thurman Christenson, Kyle Biscoglia, Cade DeVos, Cody Anderson, Jack Smith, Zach Barnes, Jakob Allison, Joel Shapiro, Nate Vento, Alex Smith, Nick Vento, Brett Dively, Tanner Garrington, Jake McDonald, Nate McDonald, and Stephen Downer. Four wrestlers were undefeated during the duals and were awarded All-State honors. They included Kyle Biscoglia, Jakob Allison, Joel Shapiro and Jake McDonald.
