Total Buzzkill: Party Ends Abruptly for 15 Alleged Underage Drinkers: 2012 in Review

Several 18- and 19-year-olds were charged with possession of alcohol under the legal age after police broke up a party in Waukee.

Editor's Note:  As the year winds down, Waukee Patch is looking back at some of the stories that made you talk, cry, laugh or just scratch your head.This story originally ran on June 23.   ________ Fifteen people were arrested after Waukee police responded to a report of a party involving possible underage drinkers. Around midnight on June 20, Waukee police received a call about a party in the 1400 block of Southeast Traden Drive. The caller said there were several people drinking outside the residence, many of whom looked to be younger than the legal drinking age of 21. Once there, police charged 15 party-goers with possession of alcohol.

Waukee Police Officers Save Woman and Dog from House Explosion: 2012 in Review

Waukee police officers Bill Daggett and Derrick Spoerry were honored Thursday for their efforts in saving the life of a Waukee woman after an explosion ignited a house fire.

Iowa Law Enforcement will sTEP Up Enforcement This Thanksgiving Holiday

Waukee police, along with other law enforcement, will be stepping up efforts to get drivers to buckle up this Thanksgiving holiday.

Iowa law enforcement is encouraging drivers and their passengers to buckle up this Thanksgiving holiday. The effort is part of a one-week enhanced enforcement period, Nov. 19-25, of Iowa’s special Traffic Enforcement Program or sTEP. The sTEP program joins public information efforts with those of the local enforcement communities geared at convincing all motorists of the importance of buckling up.  During this time, law enforcement will be on the lookout for drivers and passengers not wearing their safety belts. In addition to safety belt violations, officers will also pay close attention to impaired drivers and other moving violations.  Most of the state’s police officers, deputy sheriffs, state troopers and DOT officers will participate …

Police Blotter: Copper Theft Reported in Waukee

Waukee police responded to a theft last week that resulted in the theft of copper from a vehicle.

Copper prices are on the rise which means so are thefts of the "precious" metal, even in Waukee. On Sunday afternoon, Oct. 28, a Waukee man reported a theft from a motor vehicle. A window on a van parked at a residence in the 300 block of Christopher Drive had been broken and items were taken from the vehicle. The vehicle sustained approximately $200 damage.
