My Angel Foundation Organ Donation Run and Walk to be Held in May

The annual 5K and 10K run and walk raises awareness for organ, eye and tissue donation. Waukee's Ted Cochran started the foundation after receiving a kidney transplant from his mother.

From a News Release: Drawing hundreds of participants statewide, the sixth annual C.A.R.E. 5K and 10K Run and Walk for Organ, Eye and Tissue Donation Awareness will take place Saturday, May 4, in Waukee. C.A.R.E. stands for Compassion for Awareness, Remembrance and Education. The event, hosted by the My Angel Foundation, helps spread awareness about the importance of organ, eye and tissue donation by commemorating the lives of donors, celebrating the lives of recipients, and recognizing the lives of those waiting for a transplant. This story touched my heart in many ways. A good friend's husband donated a kidney to her. When she rejected it, her son's mentor stepped in and said he'd give up one of his. They weren't a match, but he did happen to match a complete stranger who also needed a kidney.
