Taylor Hale's mother, Stacy Henningsen, called her daughter's road to recovery from a head injury suffered after falling off a car "astounding" in a CarePages update posted Thursday morning. "What an exciting day yesterday!," Henningson wrote. "Taylor had therapy and was able to sit in a special chair that could hold her up and was able to take a cruise down the hall! She...was able to open the doors by pushing the handicapped button. Her daily progress is astounding." The news today comes less than two weeks after Hale, a 14-year-old freshman cheerleader and volleyball player at Prairieview School in Waukee, was severely injured in an accident Sept. 9. Taylor Hale's father, Chuck Hale, told the Des Moines Register yesterday the family does not yet know her long-term progress. He said the family appreciates the community support.

From the Des Moines Register: Chuck Hale, father of 14-year-old Taylor Hale of Waukee, told The Des Moines Register on Wednesday that doctors do not yet know what the long-term prognosis is for their daughter, who was injured after falling off a moving car Friday night. Taylor, who remains in critical condition today at Blank Children's Hospital, is under sedation and has considerable swelling of the brain. By all accounts Taylor Hale has been a typical 14-year-old girl: fun, spunky, outgoing and well-liked. “She is just a happy-go-lucky, bubbly, cheerleader,” says friend of the family, Laura Hess. “That’s the only way to explain her. She’s just a clown. Always smiling.” Hale, a freshman cheerleader and volleyball player at Prairieview School in Waukee, was doing Friday what teenagers often do when she was severely injured.
