UPDATE: Mickey's Leads in Best Place to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day Contest

We're going head-to-head with Urbandale and West Des Moines Patches, Waukee. Voting ends at 9 a.m. with the winner announced at 12 p.m.

St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Saturday this year which means the Irish bars in suburban Des Moines will be packed with revelers chowing down on corned beef and cabbage and having a pint of Guinness.  Where will you celebrate St. Paddy's Day this year? Now, before you say answer that, consider this - Patch's "Best Place to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day" contest is more than just finding the best place to grab a green beer. We're talking bragging rights, Waukee. That's right. Our very own Mickey's Irish Pub is up against three other Irish bars from other neighboring Patch cities: Mickey Finn’s and Murphy's Bar and Grill in Urbandale and Sully's Irish Pub in West Des Moines.  And we don't want to lose, do we Waukee? Max Life Fitness and CrossFit Primal: Two of the Best Places to Workout in Waukee

It was a fight to the finish between these two neighboring workout spots in Waukee with both Max Life Fitness and CrossFit Primal sharing the award for Best Place to Workout.

It was a prize-fight like no other in our first "Best of/Readers' Choice" contest. Waukee Patch readers voted and two winners have been chosen. Max Life Fitness and CrossFit Primal in Waukee will share the award for Best Place to Workout in Waukee. Folks at Max Life Fitness logged more than 1,400 votes while CrossFit Primal dominated our comments section with dozens of positive comments about the gym. Melissa Grandon, co-owner of Max Life Fitness, said they were blown away by the amount of support from their gym family. "I think it's awesome just knowing that we have such a strong community of people that we've had such a positive impact on," said Grandon.
