Rise and shine early this Saturday, Waukee, and don't miss the Waukee Fire Association's pancake and bacon breakfast. The event will be held May 18 from 7-11 a.m. at the Waukee Fire Department. The breakfast is held to show the community everything the fire department has to offer. In addition to noshing on pancakes, sausage, juice, milk and coffee, there will be some fun activities for kids of all ages. An antique fire truck will be on hand for ride alongs and a host of other activities like station tours and demonstrations will shed a little light on what goes on at the station. The Waukee Firefighter Association will host a pancake breakfast and food drive this weekend to kick off Fire Prevention Week. The bi-annual event takes place Saturday morning, Oct. 6 from 7-11 a.m. at the Waukee Fire Station. Tomme Tysdal, president of the Waukee Fire Association and a firefighter with the Waukee Fire Department, said the fundraising event provides money for the fire department to upgrade equipment and its facilities, as well as provide training for the firefighters. "We raise money for things that go above and beyond the funds we get from the city budget," Tysdal said about the event earlier this year. The Waukee Fire Association held its bi-annual pancake breakfast and food drive Saturday morning in Waukee.
The Waukee Fire Association was flipping flapjacks for a good cause Saturday morning at the Waukee Fire Station. The breakfast was part of a fundraiser to raise money for the Waukee Fire Department. The department also collected food items to donate to the Waukee Area Christian Food Pantry. Event attendees noshed on pancakes and sausage, took rides in an antique fire truck, toured the fire station and watched and participated in demonstrations from fire department employees.
