The presidential campaign began in earnest in Iowa this week with President Obama's visit to the University of Iowa in Iowa City. He made a pitch in the battleground state to prevent a federal student-loan rate increase; a couple dozen protestors outside the event criticized the president's policies. On Tuesday, the first lady was in the Des Moines area for a fundraiser and to thank volunteers for their efforts. A Wisconsin teacher, Shannon Cardinal, 43, was arrested on multiple charges for an alleged sexual relationship with a 17-year-old Marion boy. If convicted, Cardinal faces up to 186 years in prison.
