Waukee Girls Cross Country Finishes in 10th Place at State Meet

The Waukee girls cross country team finished in 10th place at Saturday's State Cross Country meet in Ft. Dodge.

The Waukee girls cross country team finished in 10th place overall at the State Varsity Meet in Ft. Dodge. The Waukee team finished with 211 points behind Iowa City High that finished with 200 points. Waukee Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams Win Regional and District Meets

Both the Waukee girls and boys cross country teams won their respective regional and district meets last Thursday in Waukee.

It was cold, it was wet, and it was windy, but both the Waukee girls and boys cross country teams were on a hot streak last week as they competed in their respective regional and district meets. The Waukee girls cross country team, coached by Heather Every, won the regional meet held last Thursday, Oct. 18, at Legacy Point Park in Waukee. Three Waukee girls received All Regional honors: Kayla Sabotin (JR) 5th place, Erika Lewis (SO) 7th place, and Rachel Brush (FR) 8th place. The remaining varsity girls placed as follows: Maddie Anderson (FR) 13th place, Brianna Young (SO) 16th place, Taylor Officer (SR) 19th place, and Jenny Brown (JR) 20th place. Several Waukee Players Named to Coaches' CIML Iowa Conference Soccer Team

Several players on the Waukee High School girls soccer team were named to the first and second teams of the coaches CIML Iowa Conference soccer team this week.

Members of the Waukee High School girls soccer team nabbed four first-team spots on the coaches’ CIML Iowa Conference soccer team. Four Waukee players were named to the second team with four other players receiving honorable mention. Waukee High School made it to the semi-final round of the state tournament last week before losing to Ankeny High School, 2-1. The picks in the Iowa Conference are as follows (* unanimous choice): First Team Goalkeeper —*Megan Goodson, sr. Defense — *Ellie Bunz, jr. Midfield —*Alyssa Hewitt, soph. Waukee Boys and Girls Track Teams Finish Strong at State Meet

This weekend in Des Moines, Iowa's best high school runners participated in the 2012 Iowa State High School Association State Track Meet.

The Waukee boys and girls track teams competed in the Iowa State High School Association 2012 Track Meet over the weekend in Des Moines. The boys team finished in two races while the girls competed in seven different events in the state class 4A competition held at Drake Stadium on the Drake University Campus in Des Moines Results from the Iowa High School Association 2012 State Track Meet are as follows: Boys 800 Meter Run 4. Amazing coverage but you missed a few special highlights from this weekend. On Thursday the boys and girls 4x800 teams, along with high jumper Maddie Rouw won state state titles. Waukee Boys' and Girls' Track Teams Make Strong Showing at the 2012 Drake Relays

On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Iowa's best high school runners participated in the Drake Relays at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.

Another year of the Drake Relays have ended, leaving behind a trail of memories and even a record for several members of the Waukee High School track team. The Waukee girls’ shuttle hurdle relay team made up of Emma Drees, Alyssa Cunningham, Mallory Smith and Maddie Rouw, ran the relay in 1:03.29 to set a new Drake Relays record. The previous record was set in 2011 by a team from Urbandale High School. In an interview with the Des Moines Register, Rouw said, “I can’t see the clock, but by the crowd cheering, I could tell we were really coming close to the record." Waukee Basketball Teams Heading to State High School Tournament

Both Waukee's boys and girls basketball teams are heading to the Iowa High School State Basketball Tournaments at Wells Fargo Arena. The Waukee girls play today at

The Waukee High School girls varsity basketball team will take its turn at the Iowa High School Girls Basketball State Tournament today at 11:45 a.m. The trip to the state tournament is the Warrior team's fifth in a row. They will play Mason City today at Wells Fargo Arena in downtown Des Moines.  If they win, the girls will play in the semifinal round of class 4A play on Friday, March 2 at 12:00 p.m. After a single point upset over Des Moines Hoover Tuesday night, the Waukee High School boys basketball team will head into tournament play next week also at Wells Fargo Arena. Waukee Girls Seek State Berth in Bowling; Boys Aim to Break Last Year's Losing Streak

The girls' bowling team will try to build on last year's winning record in its fifth season as a varsity sanctioned team. The boys will look to improve on a 0-10 campaign last season.

Girls' Bowling Team Aims for State Berth In the five years that bowling has been a sanctioned varsity sports, the Waukee Warriors have sent one bowler to state. This year the Warriors hope to improve upon that, as well as better last year's 8-3 record by the Waukee girls' bowling team. Head coach Chris Roberts has been at the helm since the program was sanctioned as a varsity sport five years ago. He says this team should improve on the record from a year ago. "I don't see us dropping off from where we were last year," Roberts said. "If anything, I see us being better than what we were last year." One reason why Roberts is so confident with this year's team is Shelby Klumpers. Klumpers has a bowling lineage. Her dad bowled in college and …
