UPDATE: One Day Left to Vote in our "Best Place to Workout" Patch Poll

In our “Best of Waukee Patch” poll, we asked you to vote for your pick of the best places to get fit. Today, the battle rages primarily between Max Life Fitness and CrossFit Primal.

Where’s the best place to work on your fitness in Waukee? That’s the question we asked you to answer as we launched the first of Patch's "Best of" series. And boy, have you ever responded. As of the evening of March 5, there have been more than 1,800 votes in our poll and they just keep coming. Who will be the winner? Will it be Max Life Fitness? Maybe CrossFit Primal? Or maybe, just maybe, the members of the Waukee Family YMCA will pull out a last minute win. Cops Against Cancer Event Still Needs Volunteers, Teams

The 12-Hour Fitness and Endurance Challenge will be held March 3 at Second Wind Exercise Equipment, located at 10201 University Blvd. in Clive. The event is organized by Cops Against Cancer, founded by an Ankeny cop and resident.

Do you want to promote good health while, at the same time, taking a stand against cancer? If so, there's still a chance this weekend. The 12-Hour Fitness and Endurance Challenge will be held Saturday at Second Wind Exercise Equipment, located at 10201 University Blvd. in Clive. The event is serving as a fundraiser for Cops Against Cancer, a non-profit group founded by Craig Phinney, an Ankeny cop and resident. Phinney said many volunteers are still needed to work the event, which begins at 7 a.m. Want to put a team together to participate? There's still time if you hurry. [VIDEO] Kosama Comes To Waukee

Kosama fitness centers are popping up all over Iowa and the Midwest. Construction is currently underway at 70 Laurel St. for Waukee's only location.

Fitness fanatics rejoice - Kosama is coming to Waukee. The newest metro location next to Mickey's Irish Pub and Grill at 70 Laurel St. will be the largest Kosama in the area, topping out at 5,000-square-feet. It’s scheduled to open September 12. "We’re really, really excited about (it)," said Justin Aarsvold, general manager at Kosama Waukee. "Knowing that it's such a growing and active community of people that like to really be fit, is exciting. We think Waukee could be one of our best locations.” The Kosama fitness program is an eight-week commitment to change.
