The unanimous vote Tuesday by the Dallas County Board of Supervisors comes after a meeting Monday with Adel and ADM schools representatives. One supervisor had suggested the county use the old middle school grounds for its administration building.
From a Dallas County news release and AdelNews.com: The Dallas County Board of Supervisors Tuesday unanimously approved a location for a proposed administration and public safety facility on the east side of Adel, according to a news release, to provide necessary services for residents in one of Iowa and the nation's fastest-growing counties. The supervisors met Monday night with representatives from the City of Adel and the Adel-De Soto-Minburn school board to discuss where to house a county administration building, reported the Dallas County News. With neither candidate for Dallas County Sheriff annoucing plans for any public events before the June 5 primary, voters will have to comb old news stories and candidate websites to glean information on who they choose. Sheriff Chad Leonard is being challenged in the June Republican primary by Jim Romar, a retired West Des Moines police officer. Leonard has served as sheriff since 2007. In a March press release, Romar said that Dallas County officials had recently discussed the need for construction of a new jail. Leonard responded that Romar's release was “dirty politics,” according to the Dallas County News, and said neither he, nor Chief Deputy/Jail Administrator Doug Lande has proposed the county build a new jail facility. Whether a senior living independently at home or someone with a medical condition that could require paramedic intervention, the Waukee Fire Department wants residents to know that not only will they take care of them during their visit, but also their property. Thanks to a new program being piloted by the Waukee Fire Department and supported by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, elderly or infirm residents can apply for a Knox-Box, a secured entry key box containing a house key, for no charge.
