As the cold draws near, the Aloft Gallery in the barn at LT Organic Farm starts wrapping up its season with a Holiday Open House.
If you're looking to get a jump start on your holiday shopping, this weekend might just be your chance. The Aloft Gallery is holding its annual Holiday Open House this weekend in the barn at LT Organic Farm, 32513 Ute Ave. Wendy Rounds, co-owner of the Aloft Gallery, said the open house is one of the gallery's final hurrahs before winter weather sets in. The Aloft Gallery will have Christmas items for sale along with door prizes, treats and artist demonstrations. The Holiday Open House will be held Friday from 5-8 p.m.; Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Aloft Gallery at the LT Organic Farm is hosting the Art on the Farm event this Saturday in Waukee.
If you're looking for a little culture to wrap up your week, you might think about heading out to the Aloft Gallery this Saturday. The "artist's gallery in a barn" is hosting Art on the Farm, an event showcasing local artists and their work all on the grounds of the LT Organic Farm in Waukee. Wendy Rounds, artist and co-owner of Aloft Gallery, said in addition to the artist's displays, there will be art demos on wood carving, painting, glasswork, drawing and polymer clay; a kids' creation station; face-painting and an end-of-summer sale at the Aloft Gallery. Situated next to busy Interstate 80, tucked behind rows of organically grown veggies and fields high with maiden grass, sits a sturdy-looking barn. Inside, visitors pick up bags of CSA (community-supported agriculture) goods, gather around tables for a home-cooked meal and browse the selection of a neat little art gallery right inside the door.
