Local Residents Attend Convention in Portugal

Three Waukee area couples attended the 104th annual convention of Rotary
International in Lisbon, Portugal, held June 23-26.
Lee and Roberta Holmes of Clive and Steve and Judy Sandahl of Waukee
accompanied 2013-14 Waukee Rotary President Erna Morain and her
husband, Steve Morain.
Rotary representatives from 160 countries and their family members
made up the nearly 20,000 attendees at the convention.
The couples also spent several days sightseeing in Portugal.
The Waukee Rotary Club is a service organization which supports
projects to improve not only Waukee, but efforts throughout
the world. Rotary International's project to eradicate polio worldwide
has succeeded in reducing the number of new polio cases to a handful
in three remaining countries.
