Waukee Students Cited for Outstanding Scores on AP Exams

The school district offers 14 onsite programs that offer rigorous college-level courses.

Fifty-three Waukee High School students have been cited for outstanding performance on the 2013 Advanced Placement Exams, according to a story on the school district’s web site.

High school Principal Kirk Johnson attributed the high achievement levels to dedicated advanced placement teachers and committed students. “We are utilizing additional data sources to identify all students who should be enrolled in an AP course and therefore expose more Waukee High School students to more learning opportunities,” he said. “WHS administration and teachers are also committed to mindful growth of our AP program.”

The AP program allows students the opportunity to take rigorous college-level courses while still in high school and earn college credit. Waukee, which offers 14 onsite courses, has seen exponential growth in participation in the AP program over recent years.
