New Jewish Preschool Now Open in Waukee

The curriculum at the new preschool encourages discovery, creativity, independence and questioning.

A new preschool opened in Waukee Monday.

Gan Shalom, The Jewish Center for Early Childhood, began serving children ages 2-5 at Caspe Terrace, the Jewish Federation of Greater Des Moines’ 46-acre cultural and recreational complex, the Des Moines Register reports.

The preschool has space for 40 students and offers a curriculum that “fosters discovery, creativity and independence, and encourages questioning,” the newspaper said.

Non-Jewish children are also accepted at the center, according to Laura Bernstein, its director of education.

Programs run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Extended child-care hours are offered from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
