Two Waukee Men Named to Iowa Sportsmen for Obama Council

Dan Prymek and Nick Prymek, both of Waukee, have both been named to the Iowa Sportsmen for Obama Council.

Submitted by Obama for America

Today, Obama of America Iowa launched the Iowa Sportsmen for Obama Council, a group of hunters, fishers and conservationists from across Iowa who share the President’s vision for America’s great outdoors.

“As an avid sportsman, I support the President because his conservation and recreation strategy will ensure Iowa’s outdoor heritage will continue to be enjoyed by hunters, anglers and sportsmen for generations to come,” said State Senator Dick Dearden. “The Sportsmen for Obama Council will play a critical role in reminding Iowans when they vote early about the clear contrast between President Obama’s record and Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan’s harsh policies that will threaten programs that maintain and grow our hunting heritage.”

Dan Prymek and Nick Prymek, both from Waukee, were named to the Council along with 13 other Iowans.

President Obama’s focus on America's great outdoors takes a 21st century approach to conservation, protects our natural resources, supports jobs in rural economies, and preserves habitat for fish and wildlife. In 2006, 552,000 sportspersons and 1.2 million wildlife watchers combined to spend $1 billion on wildlife-related recreation in Iowa. The Obama Administration has worked with farmers and ranchers to implement conservation practices on nearly 30 million acres of land.  He is fighting to fund native prairie and wetlands conservation efforts in places like the Iowa Prairie Pothole Region - known as the 'Duck Factory' of the United States.

President Obama has committed substantial investments to protect and restore the lands and waters that shape America’s identity and fuel our economy. Through partnerships with local communities and private landowners, and a focus on outdoor recreation and tourism, President Obama is moving our use of America’s great outdoors forward, and preserving them as a national treasure for future generations to enjoy.

“The President’s vision stands in clear contrast to Mitt Romney, who as governor of Massachusetts raised fees on gun owners and boaters and tried to raid investments for hunting and fishing programs,” said Berkley Bedell, Former Congressman and Founder of Berkley Fly Co.  “As a presidential candidate, Romney has misled the public on his lack of hunting experience and ran away from his gun control record in an effort to lure the endorsement of the gun lobby.”

Despite pandering to sportsmen about the need for open access to public lands, the Romney-Ryan budget would gut funding for programs aimed at protecting our public lands and wildlife habitat.

The Iowa Sportsmen for Obama Council is the latest group of Iowans committed to moving our country forward by reelecting President Obama in November. The campaign has already released Youth, Small Businesses and Entrepreneurs, Latino, Rural, Veterans & Military Families, African Americans and Women for Obama committees.
