'Restore Our Future' Makes $3.1 Million Iowa Ad Buy for Romney

A $3.1 million advertising buy in Iowa could secure presidential hopeful Mitt Romney's spot as a favorite to win the Iowa caucuses set for Jan. 3.

With just a few weeks left before the Iowa caucuses, the push is on for the GOP presidential candidates to secure voters before the big dance.

If the last few days are any indication, advertising may be the key to gaining support.

This week, Ron Paul made a major advertising buy in both Iowa and New Hampshire, funded by donations from supporters. An Wednesday morning netted his campaign more than $1.1 million by Thursday afternoon.

Thursday, according to an article in The Des Moines Register, Mitt Romney's campaign will get a major boost in the next few weeks thanks to a $3.1 million television and radio advertising buy by "Restore Our Future," a political action committee in support of the former governor of Massachusetts.

One source quoted in the Register's story said the buy is the "largest he's seen in Iowa this year."

“It’s the kind of ad buy you’d buy if you’re worried about your candidate finishing worse than third,” Brian Dumas, president of the political consulting company Victory Enterprises, told the Register.

The first television spot titled, "Now You See The Problem," criticizes president Barack Obama for creating few jobs as a community organizer and law professor prior to his presidency and plays up Romney's experience in the business sector.
