Ann Strong Named Waukee's 2011 Citizen of the Year

A reception for Ann Strong, Waukee's 2011 Citizen of the Year, will be held at Waukee City Hall on June 7 from 6 to 8 p.m.

At the April 16 Waukee City Council meeting, Mayor Bill Peard announced Ann Strong as the 2011 Waukee Citizen of the Year. Wilson was chosen for the award by a committee that included Mayor Bill Peard; Dr. David Wilkerson, superintendent for the Waukee Community School District; Sara Larson, Waukee Area Chamber of Commerce President; and 2010 Citizen of the Year Vivian Wilson.  Strong was selected for this honor for her many years of dedication to the community and with the Waukee Christmas Drive.

A cake and punch reception honoring Strong will be held Thursday, June 7 from 6-8 p.m. in the , 230 W. Hickman Rd. The reception is open to the public and all are encouraged to attend.  As Citizen of the Year, Strong will be presented with a Key to the City by Mayor Peard, as well as being recognized by riding in Waukee’s 4th of July and Waukee Fest parades.
