Waukee Man Stabbed after Night Out with Friends

Matthew Burris, 44, of Clive was charged with willful injury and going armed with intent after he allegedly stabbed the victim as they fought in his yard.

A Waukee man is recovering from his injuries after he was stabbed Sunday in an early-morning altercation in Clive, the Des Moines Register reports.

The victim’s name has not been released, but he suffered non-threatening injuries. He was taken by ambulance to an area hospital, treated and released.

Matthew Burris, 44, of Clive was charged with willful injury and going armed with intent in connection with the incident. He was taken to the Dallas County Jail on $10,000, but has since been released, according to jail records.

The altercation occurred around 1:35 a.m. in the 15200 block of Rosewood Drive in Clive. Police said the two men had been out together with a group of friends earlier in the evening, then got into an argument as Burris was driving the group back to his home. Burris reportedly dropped off the victim, who began walking the rest of the way to Burris’ home. He was met there by Burris, who allegedly stabbed him after the two began fighting in the yard.
