A Middle-grade Reading Recommendation

This week’s book is an enchanting fantasy-adventure for middle-grade readers from one of my favorite authors – Sarah Prineas, author of the popular Magic Thief series.  In her new book, Winterling, Prineas weaves the tale of Fer, a middle-school girl who has always felt out of place.  Then one night Fer rescues an injured boy in the forest, and her life changes forever. 

Following her new companion, Fer passes through the Way into an enchanted and dangerous winter land.  Here a powerful huntress, the Mor, rules, and Fer senses that something is seriously wrong.  As she searches for answers, it becomes evident that the Mor is not all she seems, and that magic is all around in this strange place.  Fer struggles to claim her true place and solve the mysterious disappearance of her parents years before.  Using her wits and instincts, and drawing upon strength and knowledge she didn’t realize she possessed, Fer must find within herself the power to set right a dreadful evil.
