"Dolphin Tale" at the Waukee Public Library
Get out of the heat and come out to the today for its afternoon movie series. The Library will be showing "Dolphin Tale" today at 2 p.m. The movie is free and open to the public and includes popcorn. Next week's show will be "The Lorax."
Maple Grove United Methodist Church Turns 112
Maple Grove United Methodist Church, 9391 Ashworth Rd, in West Des Moines is celebrating its 112th birthday Saturday, from 11 a.m. until 5 pm. The church is celebrating by inviting the community to a free family event on the church lawn.
New York artist Stephen Gerberich will hold a special art workshop for kids. Sculptors will create their own mini masterpiece from a collection of parts gathered during Gerberich's travels through our nation's junkyards and 99-cent stores. Assembled using contemporary hot glue "welding," kids or adults will arrange and rearrange surplus objects into original piece of art while acquiring a new appreciation for creative reuse. The workshop will run from 1 to 3 p.m., with assistance from the .
Girls Softball Varsity Regional Tournament
The girls softball team will play Urbandale High School in the regional varsity tournament Saturday at 7 p.m. at Waukee High School. Don your best Waukee purple and come cheer on the Warriors Saturday night.
Kick Band with Sydney Lett at Mickey's Irish Pub
Come out and listen to the sounds of the Kick Band at Saturday at 9 p.m. Sydney Lett, an up and coming country singer on the verge of releasing her first CD, will open. There is no cover charge to attend.
