Each month, Legacy Pointe Retirement Community of Waukee, Iowa hosts a neighborhood chat, designed to educate residents and area seniors how to maintain a happy and healthy lifestyle.
The most recent neighborhood chat, held on Sept. 11, 2012 and titled. "Baby Boomers and Beyond – Sound Nutritional Advice," featured dietitian Deb Ruebbelke, RD, LD. At the inaugural chat, nutrition requirements, food safety, moderation and making wise food choices were discussed.
With more than 30 residents and area seniors in attendance, many had questions for Dr. Ruebbelke, specifically about maintaining a healthy diet while living with diabetes.
Dr. Reubbelke brought props, including samples of serving sizes to show attendees. “The information was very informative and the food was delicious,” said resident Eleanor Bricker.
