Five Things Waukee Residents Should Know: August 18

Here's what's going on in Waukee today and some other stuff you might want to know.

1) Waukee Chamber Networking Luncheon

The Waukee Chamber of Commerce is holding a networking luncheon today at The Village at Legacy Point, 1650 SE Holiday Crest Circle, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  The speaker will be Amy Busack from the National Kidney Foundation. Tickets are $15. You can register for the event at www.waukeechamber.com/registration

2) Mosquito Spraying Tonight

Tonight is the last night of the season for mosquito spraying. Spraying will commence tonight at 9 p.m. You are urged to contact City Hall if you have a medical condition and they will add your address to the 'Do Not Spray Area' list.

3) Creative Kidstuff

If you have little ones who aren't old enough to attend school yet, then you might consider bringing them to Creative Kidstuff at Jordan Creek Town Center this morning at 10 a.m. when they read aloud preschool-appropriate books in the store.

4) Iowa State Fair

Today is Iowa Parks and Recreation Day at the Iowa State Fair. Check out the Parks and Recreation display on the Grand Concourse for more information. Admission is $10 for adults, $4 for children 6-12 and children 5 and under are free.

5) The Weather

Not a bad day for August. Today will be mostly sunny with a high around 84. Tonight, a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms late. Low near 68.
