Art Discovery Classes - Registrations Due May 18
Class Registrations Due Friday, May 18th
Waukee, Iowa –The Waukee Area Arts Council will hold a weeklong session of art classes entitled ART Discovery for K- 8th grade students. The classes will be held from June 4-8, 2012 with morning or afternoon class sessions available. The hour classes are divided in to K- 4th and 5th -8th grades. Each day the students will learn about a different artist and create something in that style.
Monday: Pablo Picasso
Tuesday: Wassily Kandinsky
Painting in the style of Kandinsky, infusing color and lines together
Wednesday: Jackson Pollock
Splatter-style painting in the style of Jackson Pollock
Thursday: Modern Popular Culture
Making Fandango Puppets or Papier-Mâché Angry Birds
Friday: Vincent Van Gogh
Drawing with oil pastels
A certified teacher always teaches the Waukee Area Arts Council classes for kids. This year Jill Belgarde an art teacher at Perry will be leading the classes. “I’m excited by the classes this year and the artists the children will be learning about,” said Karen Dluhos president of the board. “We are also trying to make it simple and have an option that will work in today’s busy schedules.”
K-4th grade students will choose between 9:00 to 10:00 am or 12:30 - 1:30 pm and 5th – 8th grade students will choose between 10:30 to 11:30 am or 2:00 to 3:00 pm. Cost is $50 per person for the week (materials included). Minimum class size must be met for class to be held. DEADLINE for registration is Monday, May 21, 2012!
