Drug Abuse Prevention Tactics That Work: Are You 'In the kNOw?'

Join Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa for a FREE event on Saturday, April 21, as we explore the topic of substance abuse in ways that will promote a positive change in ourselves and in our community! The event will be presented by Senior Prevention Specialist, Bill Wright, of Employee & Family Resources.

The event will be presented in a fun, hands-on manner. Learn to recognize what a drug is, the ways in which drugs affect our brain, how to broach the topic of substance abuse, resistance skills, and most importantly, how to stay positive!

If you are a mentor, parent or work with young people, you won’t want to miss this event! Children of all ages are also encouraged to come.

Snacks and refreshments will be provided, as well as a keepsake to take home!

In the kNOw, a new project created by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa, is designed to promote awareness and prevention of substance abuse among children in our mentoring programs.

In the kNOw is funded in part by grants from Iowa Department of Public Health.

If you have questions regarding the event or to RSVP, please contact Emily Sulich at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa, at 515-288-9025 X230 or esulich@bbbsia.org.
