In their first season of Class 3A play, the Waukee High School girls soccer team made it all the way to the semi-final round of the Iowa State High School Girls Soccer Tournament.
Unfortunately, the season ended there with a loss to the defending state champions, Ankeny High School, 2-1.
Waukee's Steph Williams scored the Warriors' only goal in the first minute of the second half. Aubree Larson scored both of Ankeny's game-winning goals, the latter just minutes before the final buzzer.
In state play Thursday, the Waukee girls booted favorites Dowling Catholic from contention with a 1-0 win over the Maroons. The Waukee girls finish the season, 14-6.
