The Daily Dose: Commencement, City Council, Contests and More!
Are you ready for your daily dose of random? Here it is. Happy Monday, Waukee.
Good morning, Waukee. Welcome back to the reality of the work week. Wouldn't it be great if we could have a three day weekend and a four day work week? Someone get the president on the horn and let's see if we can make this happen.
Totally random thought - did you realize there are only two days left of school for the 2011-12 school year? I'm in denial. I can't believe the year is almost over.
That said, let's celebrate with the graduating class of 2012 by attending Waukee High School's commencement ceremony tonight at 7 p.m. at the Knapp Center. More than 300 seniors will walk across that stage to accept their diplomas. It's a can't miss event.
While I'm thinking of it, Patch has a couple contests you should really consider entering. Submit a story and photo of your lost loved one and you could win $500 toward the charity of your choice. Also, if you know someone who deserves to be recognized for their volunteer efforts or someone who's truly a good neighbor, enter them for a shot at winning Patch's Good Neighbor Award.
Oh, and if you haven't already, go and vote for your favorite dentist in Patch's "Best Dentist" Readers' Choice contest.
Let's talk weather...today will be an absolutely perfect day to call in sick to work. It's going to be sunny with a high near 75. The next couple days, according to the National Weather Service, are as follows:
Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 51. Light and variable wind.
Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 80. Breezy, with a south wind 5 to 8 mph increasing to between 17 and 20 mph. Winds could gust as high as 28 mph.
Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 61. Breezy, with a south wind between 15 and 17 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.
And with that, have a great day and a great start to the week!
