Parents Talk: What's So Funny About Trick-or-Treating?

Trick-or-treating or Beggars' Night often calls for a joke. What's your best one-liner?

On any other day of the year, going door-to-door begging for candy might appear desperate, even illegal, but not on Halloween.

Whether your hometown promotes trick-or-treating on Halloween or Beggars' Night on Oct. 30, being a kid, dressing up and collecting candy might as well be winning the lottery.

But, there's a catch - candy givers often want a little something in return for those snack size M&Ms, so you had better be ready with a joke.

For the little kids, we try to stick to something simple and easy to remember:

"Why did the man put the car in the oven? He wanted a hot rod."

For the bigger kids, anything related to pop-culture seems to work:

"How do you wake up Lady Gaga? Poke-r face."

So what's your best one-liner? We know you've got 'em. Help a kid out this Halloween by adding your best joke in the comments below.
