ENCORE: Hy-Vee Files Permit to Build Waukee Grocery Store
After more than a year, it was announced Monday that Hy-Vee has filed a building permit for a grocery store near the intersection of Hickman and Alice's Roads.
Waukee could soon have a second option for grocery shoppers.
At Monday night's meeting of the Waukee City Council, it was announced that Hy-Vee has filed a building permit for a store near the corner of Hickman and Alice's Roads.
Interim city administrator Brad Deets, who stepped into Jeff Kooistra's position after his resignation Monday, announced the filing.
In April, Hy-Vee filed for a building permit for a convenience store located on the proposed site. Construction could begin yet this spring.
The Hy-Vee project has a long history in Waukee. A site plan that included a grocery store, convenience store and car wash was initially filed with the city of Waukee in February 2011. A year later, the council voted to extend Hy-Vee's site plan for one year.
A permit for the convenience store was filed in April 2012.
