1) Snow Ordinance in Effect 

There is a snow ordinance in effect for the city of Waukee today through Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 5 p.m. One to three inches of snow are being predicted. Residents are asked to watch road conditions and drive carefully.

2) Activities at the Waukee Public Library

Looking for something to do with the kids today? The Waukee Public Library has a few new activities.

Whimsical Ones is for babies and toddlers ages 12-24 months. Children and caregivers will enjoy songs, finger plays and read-aloud stories, followed by playtime. Whimsical Ones meets at 10 a.m.

Time for Twos is for toddlers 2-3 years-old. Children and caregivers will enjoy songs, finger plays, and read-aloud stories, followed by playtime. Time for Twos meets at 11 a.m.

For students interested in leadership at the Waukee Public Library, the Teen Advisory Board will meet today at 3:30 p.m. at the library. Teen advisers volunteer at the library, plan teen programs and run fundraisers. They also assist in the selection of young adult materials.

3) Waukee Food Pantry and Free Clinic Open Today

The Waukee Food Pantry will be open today for those people living in the Waukee School District or for those with approval from local churches to receive non-perishable food and personal items. The pantry is open from 4 to 6 p.m.

The Waukee Free Clinic will also be open today, 6 to 8 p.m. Registration is from 5:30 - 7 p.m. The free clinic provides everything from high blood pressure treatment to care for a cold or even minor injury.

Both the Waukee Food Pantry and the Waukee Free Clinic are housed in lower level of the Westview Church.

4) Waukee Basketball

Come out and support your Waukee basketball teams today.

The 9th grade boys basketball team plays Johnston at Johnston High School today at 6 p.m.

The JV boys basketball team will face Des Moines East at Waukee High School tonight at 7 p.m.

5) Waukee School Board Meeting

The Waukee School Board will meet tonight for its regularly scheduled meeting at 7 p.m. in the Waukee Community Schools District Office board room. The Waukee School Board meets the second and fourth Mondays of the month. The next meeting of the school board will be Feb. 27.
