PHOTOS: Ashworth Theatre Company Closes Summer Session With Two Productions
The Ashworth Theatre Company's inaugural summer session comes to a close today with two productions showcasing the student actors' hard work.
When Mackie and Violet Saylor said they were going to start their own theatre company, they weren't kidding.
The two sisters from Waukee founded the Ashworth Theatre Company, a children's theater troupe where there are no small parts, only small actors.
Registration for the company's inaugural summer session for students in kindergarten through 10th grade was maxed out, said Violet Saylor, with more than 50 young actors participating in the week-long camps that began last Monday.
The summer season closes today with performances by each age group. The elementary students performed, "Alice...Again!" Older students participating in the Center Stage Workshop will hold a performance this evening beginning at 7 p.m. at ArtsCentral.
